UA Public Consultation
Thursday, July 28 2011 08:14
Hi everybody! Welcome on the new blog of Action Communiterre! My name is Anne-Sophie and i work
for AC within the framework of the public consultation on the state of Urban Agriculture (UA).

The Working Group on Urban Agriculture where Action Communiterre is engaged would like to use the
Right of Initiative to create a public consultation on the state of Urban Agriculture in Montreal.

Public consultations generate new solutions that can influence the City’s attitude towards
sustainable development and provide support for the expansion of urban agriculture in Montreal.

UA occupies and increasing presence within Montreal’s collective consciousness and yet
the city itself boasts incredible agricultural potential.

We hope that this consultation will mobilize stakeholders around a vision of UA which
will, for example:

-Maintain and increase spaces for urban agriculture
-Developing access and dissemination of information
-Promote the role of agriculture in an integrated urban development
-Institutionalize partnerships
-Support innovative projects etc…

For the city to hold a public consultation, the right of initiative states that we must collect, in 90 days,
signatures from 15, 000 Montreal residents aged 15 and up, from August 11th to October 31th 2011.

It’s the first time that a such as project is planned! We need a lot of volunteers to collect signatures for
the petition!

For more information on collecting signatures, please contact me: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
We're counting on you!
