How Your Contributions Make A Difference

As a non-profit-organization, all monetary contributions are solely used to help us pursue our goals to support community development and increased food security. Funds are used to pay for basic operations costs, materials and tools to animate and expand our Victory Garden Network, to promote awareness, and develop urban agricultural projects in the Montreal area. Since we work in close collaboration with several local NPO’s and community organizations, the resources amassed by Action Communiterre are beneficial to the community’s food security network as a whole; The more people we are able to reach, the more food we are able to grow and share with the community.

When you volunteer your time and knowledge to Action Communiterre, your ideas and general input allows us to grow in immeasurable ways.

The Backyard Sharing Program builds partnerships in the community, between people who don't have land, but want to garden, and those with land to share. Currently we cultivate 4 backyard gardens with the help of expert gardeners. The produce is then shared through the Victory Garden Network.

Rooftop Garden

The latest garden to spring up in the Victory Garden Network is a rooftop project. The garden has grown over the past 3 years and now consists of more than 300 containers situated on the roof of the Queen Elizabeth Health Complex. The project is the result of our partnership with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Biotop, and the administration of the Queen Elizabeth Health Complex. All the vegetables are redistributed directly to the NDG Food Depot, the Trinity Memorial Church Corner weekly community meal and MUCS.
