N.D.G. Food Map: The Cantaloup garden

Once upon a time there was a melon... called the Montreal Melon. And it was grown all over NDG until the Second World War. The Melon was famous all over North America and fetched a dollar a slice in fancy New York restaurants in 1905...then in disappeared. The Cantaloup garden pays tribute to our local NDG heritage by producing Montreal Melons - as well as over 175 varieties of heirloom vegetables, fruits and herbs. Located on the grounds of the YMCA-NDG, the Cantaloup garden brings over 35 gardeners together in a collective effort. We are 100% organic, and use a permaculture system of no-till raised beds in half of the garden.
